What is Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)?

Key points about the Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)

  • A digital signature functions like what a handwritten signature does for printed documents. When you digitally sign a document, you are giving the recipient an assurance that the contents of the document have not been altered since you signed it.
  • Digital signatures enable "authentication" of digital messages, assuring the recipient of a digital message of both the identity of the sender and the integrity of the message.
  • A digitally signed file can be verified to check Data Integrity, Certificate Trust, Certificate Validity and Certificate Revocation Status.
  • As per Government of India, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Controller of Certifying Authority (CCA)’s Identity Verification Guidelines dated 26th November 2020, Certifying Authority (i.e. Sify SafeScrypt, eMudra etc.), with effect from 1st January 2021, shall not issue Class-2 DSCs instead they shall issue only Class-3 DSCs.
  • Digital Signature, apart from normal eSign purpose, is also used for several government filings like Income Tax, GST, MCA etc.

Registration process

  • Subscribe the DSC Class (currently, Class-3 only) and Plan (Individual or Organization), make the payment.
  • Provide minimal details / documents (Name, Address, Email ID, Mobile No., Gender, Date of Birth, PAN Card, Proof of Address) as per the Form available post payment.
  • Complete online audit trial of the information given/submitted with the Certifying Authority (i.e. Sify SafeScrypt, eMudra etc.) for future reference.
  • We review the form and initiate eKYC and Video-based online verification process. You need to complete the Video-based verification as per the instructions/steps sent on email.
  • Once eKYC is approved, we issue DSC on a USB Cryptographic Token (Dongle) and courier to your address all over Indian locations – delivery within 1-3 days (large cities). If issued by the local partners, delivery same day.
